Denise Bird, PMHNP-C
About Denise Bird, FNP-C Idaho Falls
My name is Denise Bird MSN, APRN, PMHNP-C, FNP-C. I have been in healthcare for over 28 years. I have practiced as an RN for 20 years and as a Nurse Practitioner for 8 years. I am a Veteran. I served 5 years in the Navy and 5 years in the Army.
Experience
I have experience in caring for patients with complex medical diagnoses such as cancer, diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease. I have experience with various types of mental illness. I also have experience in women’s health from infertility, pregnancy, and postpartum to menopause.
Dual Certified
I am different from other Nurse Practitioners because I am dual certified. I will utilize my Family Nurse Practitioner skills to evaluate medical issues that could affect mental health. In addition, I will utilize my Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner skills and evaluate the client’s mental health. I evaluate medically and psychologically.
Client Approach
My approach is really getting to know my clients. Each person is unique and has a story! I want to learn about their past, present, and mental health goals for the future. First and foremost, I LISTEN to my clients. I strive to evaluate my clients and develop a plan of care with a “Whole Person Approach”. I will mainly focus on medication management with cognitive behavioral therapy. I will refer to therapists that specialize in certain types of specific therapies, if that will benefit my client. My mission is to help people improve their mental well-being and take control of their lives.

Psychiatric Medication Management
Medication is sometimes necessary for optimal outcomes in mental health. At New Moon Mental Health, we take a conservative approach to medication management. Too often patients visit a medical provider and depart only with a prescription. At New Moon Mental Health, Denise Bird PMHNP-C will not only ensure you receive the proper dosage, but will thoughtfully monitor your progress closely and adjust treatment to fit the clients needs. Her objective is to create a safe place where you can ask any questions about your treatment.
NOW we have GENESIGHT for genetic testing of medications and how it works with your body.
Medication Management After Ketamine IV
If you have had Ketamine infusions and need medication titration after treatment or adjustment of medications, New Moon Mental Health can assist with the titration of psychiatric medications.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
At New Moon Mental Health, we incorporate brief supportive counseling in our sessions. If more extensive counseling will benefit the client, referrals to counselors/therapists with specific training will be initiated.
